Cannabis, in its many forms, is becoming more and more present in the industry. It has already been legalized in Canada and many US countries are following suit. But oil made from cannabis has already been legal in many states as medical cannabis available on prescription for those who suffer from certain illnesses.
But what you probably did not know is that cannabis oil is having a big moment in the skin care industry. Even with the controversy surrounding the cannabis plant, one of its ingredients – cannabidiol, an oil that consists of chemical messengers which interact with cell membrane receptors throughout the human body.
This oil, called CBD in short, is used as a biochemical mediator in the skin. In fact, a lot of patients are using such oils as informal solutions to their skin problems.
One of the most common skin problems, inflammation – something that probably everyone has gone through at least once in their life, can be treated with oil derived from cannabis as it has anti-inflammatory properties. It reduces the cytokine production which is the main chemical messenger for inflammation. Furthermore, the receptors in the endocannabinoid system which are spread throughout the entire body can be regulated with CBD oil.
You will also be relieved to know that cannabis oil can help you with your acne, unfortunately most people have had acne in some form. It does so by influencing the endocannabinoid system mentioned earlier by regulating the activity of the sebaceous glands and reducing the excess cytokine amount which cause inflammation.
This already might sound like too many details so we’ll cut straight to the chase. Cannabis oil can help you with skin issues such as acne, inflammation, itching and calming psoriasis. There are dozens of studies that you could look for to prove these statements but the message that we are trying to convey to you is that you should at least consider this as an option if you’re suffering from any kind of skin condition.
Of course, this activity depends entirely on the country that you live in and its laws regarding the owning and usage of oils derived from cannabis. If you happen to live in a state that allows it, you should consider growing your own plants. It’s a much cheaper alternative and you can even get seeds that will grow CBD-rich plants from a grow shop. You can make your own oil, there are many recipes that you can find online so if you have the chance, you should definitely take it.
You can take care of your skin with natural remedies that have already been proved despite the controversy that surrounds them. But of course, before you do any of that, have a consultation with your dermatologist.
